Fear is a normal and healthy part of life.
In fact, fear plays an important role in keeping us from harm and alerting us to the presence of physical or psychological danger or threat.
Everyone experiences fear differently, with physical and emotional symptoms such as rapid heartbeat, shortness of breath, sweating and nausea to name a few and under normal circumstances, fear can be managed through reason and logic.
A fear becomes a phobia when the exaggerated anticipation, or anxiety, as well as the emotional and physical response is so great that it is debilitating and interferes with everyday life, making it impossible to control, causing severe responses such as panic attacks, nausea, difficulty breathing and paralysis.
